What this tool actually does
The Text Case Converter applies eleven different transformations to whatever you type or paste — from everyday formatting like UPPERCASE and Title Case to the identifier styles programmers live in: camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case, kebab-case, and SCREAMING_SNAKE. It also keeps a live count of characters, words, and lines, which makes it handy for trimming a bio to a character limit or checking an essay's word count. Everything runs as plain JavaScript in your browser tab; the text is never sent anywhere.
A worked example
Here is the sample sentence "the quick brown fox jumps 42 times" run through eight of the transforms. This table is generated live by the same functions the buttons call — what you see is exactly what you'll get:
| Transform | Result |
|---|---|
| UPPERCASE | THE QUICK BROWN FOX JUMPS 42 TIMES |
| Title Case | The Quick Brown Fox Jumps 42 Times |
| Sentence case | The quick brown fox jumps 42 times |
| camelCase | theQuickBrownFoxJumps42Times |
| PascalCase | TheQuickBrownFoxJumps42Times |
| snake_case | the_quick_brown_fox_jumps_42_times |
| kebab-case | the-quick-brown-fox-jumps-42-times |
| SCREAMING_SNAKE | THE_QUICK_BROWN_FOX_JUMPS_42_TIMES |
Where each case belongs
camelCase is the convention for variables in JavaScript and Java; PascalCase for class and component names (React components must start with a capital letter); snake_case for Python variables and database columns; kebab-case for URLs, CSS classes, and file names; and SCREAMING_SNAKE for constants and environment variables. Converting a phrase like a page title into a URL slug or an API field name is the classic use: paste, click kebab-case or snake_case, copy.
Note that the programmatic cases intentionally strip characters that aren't letters or digits — punctuation becomes a separator, and accented characters are treated as separators too. That's the standard behavior for identifier generation, but it means these transforms aren't suited to prose in languages with non-ASCII letters.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will it modify my original?
Each click applies a transform to the current text in the box. Use undo (Ctrl+Z or Cmd+Z) inside the text area to step back, or keep your source text elsewhere and paste fresh.
What is camelCase vs PascalCase?
camelCase starts lowercase (myVariableName) and is used for variables and functions. PascalCase capitalizes the first letter (MyClassName) and is used for classes and React components.
Is my text saved or uploaded?
No. The text lives only in the page's memory while the tab is open. Nothing is stored, logged, or transmitted.
How are words counted?
Words are whitespace-separated tokens, characters include spaces, and lines count line breaks plus one. Different word processors count slightly differently, so expect small variations against Word or Docs.
Can I chain transforms?
Yes — each button transforms whatever is currently in the box. For example, Trim Spaces first, then snake_case, gives you a clean identifier from messy pasted text.
Limitations & Privacy
- Programmatic cases (camelCase, snake_case, kebab-case, etc.) strip non-alphanumeric characters — including accented letters — because they generate ASCII identifiers. Don't use them on prose you need to keep intact.
- Title Case capitalizes every word; it does not apply editorial style rules like keeping 'of' or 'the' lowercase.
- Sentence case detects sentence ends by punctuation (. ! ?) and won't recognize abbreviations like 'e.g.' as mid-sentence.
- Privacy: your text never leaves the browser tab — there is no server, no storage, and no clipboard access until you click Copy.
